Last week Patty and I had the pleasure of spending 4 fun filled days at the Signature single or solo travel Owners Meeting in Carlsbad, CA. We mingled with other travel agency owners from all over the country, attended seminars about industry changes and how we can enhance single or solo travel our service to our valued customers, single or solo travel and nearly fell off of our chairs laughing at the key note speaker, Economist Peter Ricchiuti, who actually made his profession look like fun. Of course, no Signature Owners Meeting goes without getting to experience one of our prized resorts in our Hotels and Resorts single or solo travel Collection. So here is our review of La Costa Resort and Spa.
We arrived late on Wednesday night via private transfers. The resort was about 45 minutes from the San Diego Airport and the private transfers were definitely worth the added expense. Our first impression of La Costa was it s size bring comfortable shoes because everything is a walk! Luckily, the bellhops will drive you around in golf carts or they are available to rent. We were checked in and then driven to our room. Our accommodations were a standard room with two queen beds. All of the bathrooms have been recently renovated. We were satisfied with our room, and so far, everything has lived up to expectations. I was ravenous from our five hour flight. Unfortunately, restaurants were not open at 10pm and room service stopped at the same time with only a very limited and bland menu available. I succumbed to a turkey sandwich that cost, you may want to sit down for this one, $15 + 23%service charge + California sales tax + $4 delivery charge. single or solo travel It should have been the best turkey sandwich I ever tasted. It wasn t.
The next morning we rolled out of bed and began our 2 day non-stop meeting agenda. I won t bore you with the details single or solo travel of that. We were able to see all of the pools, the event capabilities of over 300 people (banquet halls, meeting facilities, poolside single or solo travel dining for dinner, etc). I have to say, the grounds are gorgeous and well maintained, the staff are pleasant, single or solo travel and the guests all seemed genuinely happy to be there. The clientele leaned more towards younger families as there is a golf course, one of the top spas in the country, a pool for everyone, and more activities than you could dream of. Every morning, moms, expecting and not, gathered with their strollers for organized exercise. Kids made s mores at night, danced in the courtyard to live music, and played in one of the many kid friendly pools. Adults escaped single or solo travel from the kids at the adults only infinity pool, hid away at the spa, shopped, watched football in the 21 and over sports bar, and golfed the afternoon away. The property was incredibly active! My only criticisms of the property were that room service dishes were not picked up until late at night, so if you order breakfast and leave the dirty dishes outside of your room, they will be there all day and towels were not replenished on a daily basis. Two very easily remedied issues in my opinion that would have greatly improved my overall impression.
On Saturday, we finally were able to relax in the afternoon and decided to try out the spa. Little did we know, that La Costa s spa can be a truly all day experience, even if you just get one treatment. Rated one of the top spas in the United States, it was truly an awesome experience. Patty had a Signature massage, I had a facial, and my friend had a massage. We were all pleased with our therapists, and wished we would have done longer treatments single or solo travel and more of them! The spa consists of separate lounge areas for men and women with a common court yard, pool, and restaurant. There is a complimentary water therapy sequence available that includes a Jacuzzi, roman waterfall, steam room, and 85 degree single or solo travel pool. The spa was definitely booked pretty solid and we were lucky to get in when we did. It was not overwhelmingly packed, but in speaking with my facialist, single or solo travel they were very busy! I wish I had known to bring a bathing suit before single or solo travel we went, because I was not able to utilize all of the amenities the spa had to offer.
We ended our day at the sports bar and were able to spy on a destination wedding taking place. The set up for the ceremony, cocktail single or solo travel hour, and reception was eclectic single or solo travel and beautiful. Everything overlooked the green golf course (might I add that outside of La Costa, San Diego was in it s dry season and everything was brown). This would be a great place to tie the knot with so many options and accommodations for all guests. There are privately owned villas on property that can be reserved. This would be a great place to get away and explore part of the West Coast. There is also an outlet mall down the road, the beach is 3 miles away, and Disneyland is only 30 minutes away. Downtown San Diego is about 35 minutes away and the town of Carlsbad has a wide array of restaurants and shopping.
