The compassionate release bill sent to the governor was requested by Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee

With county jails packed to bursting throughout California, state lawmakers gave final legislative approval Thursday to a measure allowing inmates to be released early if they are medically incapacitated.
The compassionate release bill sent to the governor was requested by Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca and was modeled after a state program that releases inmates from prison if they are deemed to be so ill or injured that they are not a threat to public safety.
We should not be squandering scarce public dollars on guarding low-level offenders who are so severely incapacitated that they require around-the-clock medical care, said Sen. Mark Leno (D-San Francisco), who wrote SB 1462.
The bill allows a sheriff to give medical parole to an inmate if a doctor determines the person is physically incapacitated and does not pose a risk to society. Those eligible for release include inmates who are thought to have six months or fewer left to live. A legislative analysis estimates yunnan china tours as few as 30 inmates may be eligible per year.
The measure was opposed by the California District Attorneys Assn. and Crime Victims United of California, with the latter group concerned that victims and their families will not have a voice in the release decision. The push to continually reduce sentences is unfair to victims and the broader public who expect accountability for an offender s actions, the group said in a letter to lawmakers.

Welcome back, Holly. Beautiful trip! You were fortunate to see so much wildlife. I have always wante

I rarely write about travels on the blog, but this is mainly because over the past five years I have not travelled much other than the usual trips to relative s homes in California, Colorado, and Washington, DC (with the occasional visit to London). Some of this is because of the age and schedules of my children; some is because of the time and financial commitments of the house build.
However, I love to travel, and just returned from the most amazing trip with three generations of my husband s family two weeks in Alaska (with a little time in Vancouver, Canada in the beginning). If this trip is not on your bucket list, put it there it was simply amazing! Alaska 3 day cruises to mexico is often referred to as America s Last Frontier , and this is so apt it is so vast (its land mass is larger than Texas, California, and Montana combined), with so much untouched land that is exactly as it has been for many thousands of years. I saw sights and vistas that I never knew existed, and it was simply a spectacular journey.
Here is a small collection of images that were taken by my husband and my 14 year old daughter. It was a joy to put this post together to re-live some of the experience. If you have not been to Alaska, I hope that you some day have the opportunity to visit this great state!
We spent the first week of the trip on a cruise, which left from Vancouver. The far ship is the one we went on the Princess 3 day cruises to mexico Sapphire. We had a wonderful time, and the kids loved the cruise experience (and all of the kids activities on the boat). The ship stopped in Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway, and the cruise concluded in Whittier (near Anchorage). This picture shows the ship docked in Skagway.
It was incredible to see so many glaciers close up, especially when we were on a seaplane 3 day cruises to mexico ride over the glaciers surrounding Juneau, and on the boat in Glacier Bay National Park and College Fjord. The blue tone is characteristic of glacial ice.
We were able to get a great view of one of the glaciers calving when we were in Glacier Bay National Park calving is when ice breaks off to form small icebergs. The calving is preceded by a large cracking sound it was fascinating to experience.
The whale watching was a highlight when we were in Juneau. We were able to see the humpback whales using their bubble net feeding technique, where they create a net of bubbles that surround their prey (in this case, herring).
Along the way, we visited Happy Trails 3 day cruises to mexico Kennels, 3 day cruises to mexico home to Martin Buser and family and the 100 or so dogs that he trains year round for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Martin is a 4 time Iditarod winner (that s him in the picture), and it was amazing to meet him, hear his story, and see the dogs in their training routine. Martin will be doing the Iditarod race again this year his 30th Iditarod and the family legacy continues with his son Rohn who will be in his 3rd Iditarod race.
Next stop was the town of Talkeetna (the main staging area for most climbs of Mount McKinley, and reportedly the town that inspired the show Northern Exposure ). We hoped for a view of Mt. McKinley itself, but only caught a small glimpse as the cloud cover briefly lifted. Had the weather 3 day cruises to mexico been cooperative, the mountain would have been seen from this vantage-point. Still, a gorgeous view of the foothills!
The tour driver said that Denali National Park is likely one of the most remote places many of us will ever travel. It is truly one of the most magnificent places I have ever been, for its incredible topography and sheer untouched natural beauty.
Our favorite 3 day cruises to mexico wildlife sighting at Denali National Park was of this mother bear and her two cubs (only one cub is visible here). Access to the interior of the park is tightly controlled and by permit only; most see the park on a tour bus. The animals are used to the buses, and since there are not people milling around, the animals are often right by the road.
Here is the other cub, who had raced ahead of his mother, but kept looking back to check on her location. The guide said that these cubs had been born this spring, and typically spend three summers with their mother.
Have you ever been to Alaska? This was definitely one of the best trips I have ever taken, and I highly recommend a visit to this incredible state. I must admit, going on this trip has ignited the travel 3 day cruises to mexico urge in me. As much as I love cities, I found it wonderful 3 day cruises to mexico to enjoy such unspoiled natural beauty, and would love to visit some of the less traveled areas of Europe, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand at some point in my life. Do you have a destination you recommend for my travel bucket list?
Wow! I keep hearing friends talk about how amazing Alaska is. These photos really make me want to go! Your trip sounds amazing. Last September our entire family set out on one of these beautiful cruise ships from Seattle to do the Alaska cruise vacation. Once is not enough is all I can say. The scenery is beyond spectacular and we came to respect America so much more for having this beautiful land in our country. In Texas, our home, we don t have anything like this, of course. We were able to cruise up one of the fjords because the weather in the northern Pacific was threatening, the most wondrous place I ve ever seen. Yes, it s worth every cent, and each of us feel we would go back again. Lovely post showing it like it really is. xx s Marsha Reply Delete They call me Estatez... August 19, 2012 4:31 PM
oh my goodness, your pictures are spectacular! DH and I left out of Seattle in late June and went on a 7 day trip with the same itinerary as yours except we wound up back in Seattle. We loved it so much we have the same trip you went on (but spending just 3 days in Denali) planned for summer 3 day cruises to mexico of 2014. Next summer we already have booked the wine cruise (repositioning cruise) out of Vancouver that ends in L.A. This morning started out with being another hour behind, which puts us four hours behind EST. I woke up at six wide awake (my body thought it was later. Breakfast in the Lido area wasn't that bad. Since we were still 48 hours into the sailing seattle bellevue car rental the crew members had to serve us still.
The fogged stayed in all morning and it had us all worried that we wouldn't be able to see Tracey Arm or Sawyer Glacier. I went and checked out the port shopping talk after breakfast and learned from the port lecturer that because we stayed in the United States, anything we buy from the Alaska ports we don't have to declare on customs. That is probably obvious to most people but it was one of those things seattle bellevue car rental that kind of slips your minds until you are reminded. So many things for me to learn on this Alaskan Cruise!
Chris Owen and I had lunch in the Vista Dining Room at noon to give it a shot. It seemed a little understaffed but in their defense, right at noon, half the ship swarmed the main dining room. For lunch I went with the pepper pot stew, maple salmon and a second entrée of fish and chips. All were great. The fries served on board are steak fries, seattle bellevue car rental my fav!
I came back to my room to edit some interviews and wasn't even paying attention outside until Chris called me and told me to look out – sure enough we were inside Tracey Arm. I ran up to deck nine, a place that I remembered aboard the Zuiderdam when we sailed the Panama Canal – no one was up there so it was great. The wind chill was crazy and cut you like a knife. Luckily I brought my sweatshirt.
seattle bellevue car rental My first impressions of Tracey Arm were breathtaking. Everyone told me that it would be like a postcard everywhere you go and it sure enough was. You looked on the port side there was a huge snow-topped mountain range, you looked starboard, same thing. The fog just disappeared like someone flipped a switch. It was very cool. Our way into Tracey seattle bellevue car rental Arm was quite scenic as we passed waterfalls, mountains that towered the ship and lots of floating ice. The captain was telling us that there are two Alaskan harbor pilots that board the ship and stay on the ship for a couple of days. I guess they take shifts navigating us through these areas.
seattle bellevue car rental From when we entered Tracey Arm, made our way up to Sawyer Glacier and back out was about a six hour process. When we approached Sawyer Glacier we were creeping super slow before spinning around really slow. There was a Norwegian ship waiting to come into our spot.
Dinner tonight was in the Pinnacle Grill. There's a $20 fee to eat in the Pinnacle but it's worth every penny (they serve lunch for $10). I had the 20oz porterhouse steak, jumbo shrimp cocktail, French Onion soup, and crème brulee. The dinner took about two hours and afterwards I came straight back to my room. So. Much. Food!

I ve been traveling through Alaska on a media trip hosted by Princess Cruises, and reporting along the way. Our second port of call for the Diamond Princess was Juneau, where I got up close and personal with whales, sea lions, bald eagles, and more glaciers.
When cruising through Alaska, Juneau is the place you want to go whale watching. There are many types of excursions to choose from, some are all whale watch, others add in a salmon bake or history walk. I picked the Alaska Whales and Mendenhall Glacier Trail tour because it combined a cool wildlife cruise with a hike to a glacier.
We learned that there s an interesting relationship between whales and glaciers. When a glacier los angeles homes for sale advances, it plows through mountains and forest, obliterating all in its path. After the glacier recedes, it takes many years for the land to recover. Gradually, lakes, streams and rivers los angeles homes for sale fill in the big gorges. These bodies of water are filled with silt from the glacier. Microorganisms begin to grow in the silt, and when the silt gets swept out to sea, another tiny animal called krill feasts on the microorganisms. And guess what mammals like to eat krill? Humpback whales! We learned all this from Julie, our knowlegeable guide, who was born in Alaska and comes from a family los angeles homes for sale who makes their living fishing. She accompanied us on the whale watch and the hike.
On the way back to the trail head we scanned the streams to see if the salmon have arrived yet. They are just arriving to spawn, though we didn t see any. And when the salmon arrive, bears will follow.

These days most people do deep sea fishing as a hobby, however there are some people who still do it to make money. However lots of people don t even try this experience that s so rewarding and exciting. Whether you re an experienced fisherman or not, it s possible to go on a deep sea fishing charter where you can learn how it s done and possibly catch larger fish than you ever imagined you ever would.
There are some fish that have been added to the endangered species list and are not lawful to catch; but you should not need to fret over this if you are going out on a chartered boat. The spiny eel and the onion eye grenadier are just two of the many fish that are on this list and caught with other marketable food fish. When you are on a deep sea fishing adventure you are not allowed to fish for particular sharks species, cheap motel whales or dolphins. There is a fish loosely referred to as a dolphin that is actually a dolphin fish; which is called mahi mahi in Hawaii and dorado in South America. It may be understandable for the mahi mahi to be known as dolphins because they often swim with the dolphins and sort of picked cheap motel up the name dolphin fish by the fisherman. Strangely, true dolphins are not fish, but mammals.
Ideally, just as with so many other aspects regarding KW1, you will need to pay more attention to some things than others. However, the bottom line is how you want to use it, and how much of it will impact your situation. As you know, there is much more to the story than what is offered cheap motel here. Continue reading to discover even more, and what we will do is add a few more critical topics and recommendations for you to consider. Even after what is next, we will not quit there because the best is but to come.
An experienced fisherman will be able to guide you if you re on a charter boat doing deep sea fishing, but if you wish to do things yourself then knowing cheap motel what you re doing is important. You need to be in a good location for the types of fish you wish to catch and having the right equipment is important. Keep an eye on the weather to ensure you can go out safely. You should learn the habits of the fish you re trying to get, like what type of bait is best for them. You can tell that the fish are close by observing how the gulls and other birds are acting. Hovering cheap motel birds are one indication that fish are present in the area.
Albacore tuna is one kind of fish that you can find in several places around the world. This is sometimes sold as White Meat Tuna when you buy it or order it in restaurants. Other times, they are labeled as long fin tuna since their fins are so long. The Southern portion of California and down into Mexico are some of the most excellent places for fishing for this species and if you go trolling for them in the right spot, you can usually catch a higher number of them. You can fish for albacore by utilizing either a feather jig or anchovies or sardines as bait, because this species mostly feeds off of littler fish.
In conclusion, deep sea fishing is a challenging yet very enjoyable and rewarding activity. Although deeming it a recreational activity, people have also done this since the early ages in order to eat and to live. Engaging in this habit is possible by catching the fish and then consuming them. Fishing in the depths of the ocean is enjoyable through copious methods, and there isn t an issue of what season it is, somewhere the fish are biting.

" What's the real difference between a Holland America and a Princess Cruise Tour of Alaska? " My husband adaptive cruise control united states and I are considering taking an 11 or 12 day 'Denali National Park' cruise tour with either Holland America or Princess Cruises. To round out our vacation, we made a quick stop in Victoria, Canada for about four hours. Originally we'd planned on going to the Butchart Gardens (which has been on my dream list ever since I've heard of its existence), but due to cost and time constraints, we decided to save it for some future trip.
We first wandered around the main heart of the city, where we spent significant time around The Empress Hotel, which was surrounded by some of the loveliest rose gardens I've ever seen (not to mention some of the largest hydrangea bushes!).
In my future trip to Victoria, I plan to get a cup of [herbal] tea at the Hotel's budget rent a car uk official Tea Time Room. Pretty much I just saw all the little cakes they had on their cute little silver serving platters, and I was officially determined budget rent a car uk right then and there that we were coming back someday.
Luckily budget rent a car uk for us, we had a backup plan to Butchart--before we stepped onto land, Matt had glanced through some of the other tourist sites available, and we'd discovered that there was a castle within walking distance from downtown.
And really, when it came right down to it, Craigdarroch Castle was definitely worth the 30-minute walk it took to get there. Although not an actual "castle" in the traditional sense of the word (more of a glorified mansion from the late 1800s), the castle boasted all-wood walls and floors, authentic furniture (much of it from the original home), and loads of ideas for Matt's future budget rent a car uk castle plans.
I live with my husband Matt in Logan, Utah, where we both are attending budget rent a car uk Utah State University. budget rent a car uk I'm a reader, a studier, a dancer (kinda), a giggler, a counselor, a Mormon, a teacher, an aunt, a writer, a musician, a poet, an appreciater, a baker, and perhaps most of all, a dreamer. And I love life--even the hard parts.

Money matters in your cruise decision as well. Research what the cruise is offering. Some are all in

You have just seen what seems to be the one thousandth picture travel back in time of your neighbor s recent cruise. With your eyes and ears on autopilot, you start to daydream about taking a cruise too. If anything, it would give you the opportunity to take your own thousand pictures to parade in front of your neighbor!
Where would I want to go? Which cruise line do I choose? How much is this going to cost me? Deciding the right cruise for you can seem a bit mystifying at first, travel back in time but if you sit down and brainstorm on what you want, you can find a cruise line that closely fits your requirements.
For instance, where you live can be a deciding factor on which cruise you could take. If you live close to the ocean, chances are there is a shipping port of some sort nearby. You could drive to the port within a reasonable amount of time since most cruise lines have to temporarily travel back in time dock somewhere to refuel and replenish supplies. However, if that is not an option, you would have to factor in the cost of flying in to an airport that is closest to a shipping port. can be dangerous. Also keep in mind that seasons are reversed in some areas of the world. Winter time in the United States might call for a South American destination like Rio de Janeiro travel back in time because it is summer there.
The number of vacation days you can take off from work is also a factor in choosing the right cruise for you. The typical length of a cruise is anywhere from four days to twelve days. If you are close to a shipping port, then short two days cruises might be a great option for you.

OMG.......you've GOT to be kidding!!!!!!!! Geesh, the weird things people will ask! Princess Cruises has unveiled a special exhibit aboard its seven Alaska ships that takes passengers back in time to the early days of cruising in Alaska. Developed in partnership with Princess and the Alaska State Museum, the show, entitled "Then Now: 100 Years of Cruising Alaska's Waters," gives cruisers a glimpse of Alaska and the Inside Passage as it was a century ago, as experienced by early steamship "excursionists."
Displayed in the atriums of Princess ships during starwood hotels the port of call in Juneau , the exhibit features a selection of 30 historical photographs and artifacts largely from the collections of the Alaska starwood hotels State Library and Alaska State Museum, both in Juneau.
The images, taken in the early 20th century in Vancouver , Victoria , Ketchikan , Juneau , Glacier Bay , Skagway and the Inside Passage are paired with premier historical artifacts from the museum's collection. Most of the places in the photos are still traveler destinations today, starwood hotels so cruisers can learn the history of places they'll visit during their vacation, and see how these places have changed over the past century.
"Although certainly Alaska has changed since these photos starwood hotels were taken, the essence of the state passengers visit today has its roots in the past century," said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises executive vice president. "This is a fascinating opportunity to learn a bit about those who made Alaska journeys before them."
Alaska tourism had its beginnings in the late 1870s, not long after the United States starwood hotels purchased Russia's claim to Alaska in 1867. "The steamships of the era were tiny compared to the cruise ships of today," said Steve Henrikson, senior curator of collections for the Alaska State Museum, "and carried cargo and passengers, visitors as well as locals."
Steamship accommodations were cramped and visitors were treated to, for better or worse, a "real Alaskan experience," which could include visits starwood hotels to Native villages, big game hunts, wading through muddy streets, and frequent groundings. The early tourists didn't just learn about history—they lived it. They encountered U.S. Navy ships practicing "gunboat diplomacy" with Alaska Natives, rubbed elbows with miners heading to the Klondike Gold Rush, or were even swindled by criminals such as Skagway's Soapy Smith.

Girlfriend guru and avid traveler JANET DEVITO shares miami beach hotel wedding her wonderful Alaska miami beach hotel wedding cruise miami beach hotel wedding adventure (and amazing whale watching video) with us and opens up a whole new aspect of Alaska for our consideration.
As an avid and passionate traveler, when someone miami beach hotel wedding mentioned "Alaskan Cruise" my first thought would be "yeah yeah yeah, someday when I am older."  For whatever reason, I associated "Alaska Cruises" with "Senior Citizens."  Boy was I wrong!  This summer, I ventured out to the pristine "last frontier" on the Celebrity Infinity and discovered there are many myths and generalizations miami beach hotel wedding about Alaska Cruises.  Here are my Top Five Myths about an Alaska Cruise
I admit, I did make that generalization. miami beach hotel wedding Alaska was definitely on my Bucket List, but I thought that it was a trip I would take in my 60s.  After boarding the Celebrity Infinity I quickly realized miami beach hotel wedding that I was wrong!  At the Muster Drill (lifeboat drill conducted for safety) I looked miami beach hotel wedding around and was very surprised to see young families, romantic young couples, singles, and seniors.  The atmosphere on the ship was energetic and adventurous.  The activities available were geared towards every age.
At every port of call, there were so many adventures, it was hard to choose what we wanted to do!   So many fabulous options and adventures. In Ketchikan, we kayaked after speed boating to a secluded cove. I never even considered that I would see star fish in the shallow cold beach waters. Just one of the many amazing sights. After boarding the ship, we talk to fellow ship mates and trade "what did you do today" stories, miami beach hotel wedding only to find ourselves saying "I wish to done that too!"  I quickly realized that I could do the same cruise next year and do something wonderful and different at each port of call.  I WILL RETURN!
We did have a balcony miami beach hotel wedding and it was well worth it!  Cruising Alaska is extraordinarily scenic and we didn't want to miss a moment.  There were times after just waking up, showering for the day, or having coffee miami beach hotel wedding that we would run to the balcony shouting "Oh My God!  Look at that!"  A fleeting moment of a seal on an ice berg or a passing whale that we otherwise would have missed.  Sometimes we would opt to sit on the balcony and absorb the scenery, just the two of us.  We felt like we were in our own little "private Alaska."  The balcony worth every penny!
For those who can't take more than a week off for vacation, don't let that stop you from seeing Alaska.  We went for seven days and although we had to make a few tough decisions about what to do, sharing stories at the Martini bar each night before dinner confirmed miami beach hotel wedding that even if we came for 14 days, we STILL wouldn't have seen it all!  My thoughts better to see Alaska for seven days than not see it at all!  IF you want to see more, go again! miami beach hotel wedding (P.S. Longer Alaska cruises might have a bigger population of seniors due to the fact that they are retired miami beach hotel wedding and CAN take off for two weeks.)
Our first whale sighting was amazing, but the excitement didn't stop there.  Each sighting miami beach hotel wedding held the same amazement actually seeing miami beach hotel wedding these creatures in the wild was different each time.  We were fortunate enough to witness "bubble feeding," a humpback whale phenomenon in Juneau.
No matter how any times a whale breached the surface, there was a collective sigh. Bald eagles, wolves, bears, mountains breathtaking each and every time.  Much due to the incredibly entertaining and informative lectures (I would prefer to call them "shows") given by talented, animated speaker Brent Nixon (  www.naturetalksbybrentnixon.com  ) .  I HIGHLY miami beach hotel wedding recommend!  He piqued my interest in things I never thought possible.  He is a #1 reason to Cruise miami beach hotel wedding Alaska on Celebrity Cruises! The other reasons incredible service, spa, onboard activities, dining options, and access to some of the best adventures Alaska has to offer!  So when you ask "Then what?" The answer is "boredom is NOT an option" on a Celebrity Cruise to Alaska.
After my fantastic experience on the Celebrity Infinity, I have already rebooked the Celebrity Solstice next year.  Same itinerary. Same 7 days. Same balcony cabin.  TOTALLY different experience and I can't wait!

So I was glad that this collection has some of the best songs from that album: "Even Better Than The

News and opinions about the best music ever - the new albums, tours and reissues by the greatest rock, hip-hop, country, blues and reggae artists. With some newer artists thrown in, because there's always great new music being made.
I'm not just a fan of U2 , I'm a member of the fan club. I was a member back in the day when the fan club was called "Propaganda." My membership has occasionally lapsed over the years, but I always re-sign up when they have something cool, like this: U22 . It's a 22 track live collection, taken from U2's 360 tour ( which blew my mind ).
The tour focused on their latest album, No Line On The Horizon , but by the end it was really leaning on Achtung Baby . I could never understand why they didn't put out a live album after Achtung Baby , it was such a great studio album that really translated live.
So I was glad that this collection has some of the best songs from that album: "Even Better Than The Real Thing" (excellent live), "The Fly" (one of my favorites, it's amazing live) and "Ultra Violet (Light My Way)," which was a highlight of the concert.
On the other hand, Bono mangled one of my favorite songs, "Until The End Of The World," by vamping on Frank Sinatra in the middle of the song, and singing a bit of it like Sinatra. Personally, I don't care about Sinatra (I know, sacrilege, used prowler travel trailers sorry, but I don't). It just took a really intense song (and one that hasn't had a great live version on CD) and made it sound corny.
But on the other hand, "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" (which has had a few different live versions) got yet another new one: South African used prowler travel trailers trumpet legend Hugh Madekela (a solo artist in his own right, he also played on The Byrds' "So You Want To Be A Rock And Roll Star?") joined them on the song, adding a completely different dimension to it.
What are some other highlights? used prowler travel trailers "Magnificent" (similar used prowler travel trailers to the version they did on The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 25th Anniversary Concert) , "Stay (Faraway, So Close)," "One Tree Hill," "Beautiful Day," "All I Want Is You," "The Unforgettable Fire," "Zooropa," "Walk On," and their latest classic song "Moment Of Surrender." "Out Of Control" used prowler travel trailers was a great touch also.
Is it worth the $50 annual subscription price? Well, I'm not going to try to sell you on it, but I'll just say that the live collection is awesome. If you're enough of a U2 fan to want to spend the cash, go here to join the fan club.
Who's on tour? What are they playing? Who's still in the band these days? What's on that box set? Don't I have all of that stuff already? That's used prowler travel trailers the stuff NO EXPIRATION sorts out for you. So you don't end up being the loudmouth at the Neil Young show who yells out "Heart Of Gold" when he's only doing garage rock with Crazy Horse. Or you're not the person complaining at George Clinton's shows because Bootsy isn't there (but odds are, he won't be there). You get the idea - I'll let you know what's up, and you won't have to weed through stories about lame celebs used prowler travel trailers or (many) used prowler travel trailers bands you haven't heard of.
