Thursday, officials with the developer, Rock Ohio Caesars, said for the first time that they intend to build a welcome overseas discount airline tickets center and valet parking operation that will be large enough to accommodate the throng of casino-goers and other downtown visitors.
Additionally, they will build a 250-space garage overseas discount airline tickets above the welcome center and are negotiating with the owners of nearby lots and garages to provide secure and well-lit parking for their customers within a couple hundred feet of the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland's entrances on Prospect Avenue and Public Square.
"Parking is important to us," said Nate Forbes , who is overseeing the casino development for Rock Gaming, Dan Gilbert's company. "We need to have the right first impression. And that starts when you drop your car off."
The $350 million casino, being developed by Rock Gaming and Caesars Entertainment Corp. , is expected to open in about a year in the historic Higbee building, complete with 2,100 slot machines, 65 gaming tables, and a World Series of Poker room. A larger $600 million overseas discount airline tickets casino is scheduled to be built later on Huron Road.
A Plain Dealer review of nearby parking found roughly 8,000 spaces within a three to four minute walk of the Higbee casino. That includes about 3,500 parking spaces at Tower City Center, overseas discount airline tickets most of them in an underground garage that provides direct access to the casino without going outside.
But the key to the developer's parking plan is the large valet parking operation and welcome center that the developer hopes to build cattycorner from the casino on a square-block area bounded by Ontario Street, Prospect Avenue and High and E. 2nd streets.

"Obviously, in a city like Cleveland, there's always a balance between your historic heritage and your future," Cimperman said. Added Yablonski, "We want to work with them. We just want to see if there's some alternative before tearing it down."

Joe Marinucci, chief executive officer of the Downtown Cleveland Alliance , which represents property owners, said the demand for parking may be lessened by the casino's easy access overseas discount airline tickets to bus and rail lines at Tower City Center .
