Sir David and Sir Frederick Barclay , owners of the Telegraph Media Group and The Ritz in London, have purchased Misland (Cyprus) Investments from businessman Peter Green and his family for an estimated £75 million. Misland owns a 24.8% stake in Coroin , the parent company of the Maybourne Hotel Group , which owns the Berkeley , Connaught and Claridge's hotels in London. It was reported that the Barclay brothers also reached an agreement this week with Irish property entrepreneur Derek Quinlan to acquire cruise european his 35% interest in Coroin, giving the Barclays a 60% share in the group.
Great news for football fans this week as Rezidor Hotel Group has announced cruise european that it plans to open a hotel adjacent to the Grand Stade Lille Métropole football stadium that is being developed in the city of Lille, northern France. The 127-room Park Inn Lille Grand Stade is expected to open in 2012 as Rezidor's eighth Park Inn hotel in France. Construction has already started on the 50,000-seat stadium, which is also due open in 2012. France is not the only European country to be the lucky owner of a new Park Inn as Rezidor also announced the impending arrival of the Park Inn Sochi Riviera in the city of Sochi, on the Black Sea coast, cruise european southwest Russia. The 198-room hotel is scheduled to open in 2013, ahead of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014. Rezidor recently opened a new flagship property in Sweden in the country's capital and largest city, Stockholm. The Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, Stockholm has 414 rooms and is directly linked to the Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre.
Boutique hotel chain Malmaison currently has 12 hotels across the UK, but the group is now looking further afield…leaving the White Cliffs of Dover behind cruise european it, Malmaison plans to cross the English Channel and expand into continental Europe. The London-based company recently signed a strategic partnership with Rome-based Magellan Hospitality Management which will see Magellan assist Malmaison in indentifying opportunities for new hotels in major cities across Europe. The first five destinations on Malmaison's list are Venice, cruise european Rome, Paris, Amsterdam and Barcelona, and also earmarked for new hotels are Rotterdam, Zürich, Hamburg and Monaco. The new hotels are expected to have between 100 and 150 rooms and will be owned, leased or managed.

This week the international hotel company cruise european signed a management agreement with the deputy ruler of the emirate, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Salem Al Qassimi , for the Sheraton Sharjah Hotel and Resort . The 343-room hotel is expected to be ready at the beginning of 2013, and, once open, it will be Starwood's sixth Sheraton hotel in the United Arab Emirates. Another Sheraton also made the news this week. The Sheraton Oman , which has been closed for several years to undergo a refurbishment, is to reopen later this year with 230 renovated cruise european rooms.
Dubai-based Jumeirah Group has signed a management agreement with airport retailer Dubai Duty Free for a hotel at The Aviation Club, a sports and leisure complex near Dubai International Airport which is owned and managed by Dubai Duty Free. Work is already underway on the 293-room hotel, which is expected to open sometime cruise european this year. Commenting on the new project, Gerald Lawless , Jumeirah Group's executive chairman, said: "We are honoured to have been invited by Dubai Duty Free to operate this exceptional luxury business hotel. Ghana is familiar with the colours of red, yellow and green as these three hues adorn its national flag; however, Rezidor Hotel Group will soon be introducing a new shade to the spectrum as it has announced the development of the Radisson Blu Hotel, Accra , which is scheduled to open in 2013 in the port of Accra. The 168-room hotel will be Rezidor's first property in Ghana and its tenth in West Africa.

A new five-star Protur hotel in Almería : Protur Hotels has added its first property outside of Majorca to its portfolio. The 311-room five-star Protur Roquetas Hotel & Spa, previously the HTG Portoboello 2010, in Roquetas de Mar, Almería, is currently under refurbishment and scheduled cruise european to reopen in May 2011. High Tech Hotels takes on another project in Madrid : the building on calle Barquillo is the first in a series of properties to be delivered ready for operation.
