Mary McCartney/MPL Communications Ltd. Paul McCartney is known for backing a wide variety of animal-rights initiatives, and now he's lent his support to a new campaign that seeks to bring an end to the farming of sea turtles in the Cayman Islands.
The Beatles legend has gotten behind the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) in its fight to close the Cayman Turtle Farm, which the organization claims is the only place left on the planet that breeds rental car atlanta endangered sea turtles to sell as food.
The WSPA alleges that the Cayman Turtle Farm falsely promotes itself as a conservation-minded tourist attraction, but keeps about 7,000 of the marine animals penned up in cramped and filthy tanks. The group has launched a petition seeking to have the facility transformed rental car atlanta into a wildlife shelter, and so far, it's been signed by more than 50,000 rental car atlanta people around the world.
"To have Sir Paul McCartney's support for this campaign is tremendous," says WSPA Wildlife Campaign Leader Dr. Neil D'Cruze . "[We] hope that people will join him and WSPA in helping to save the Cayman Islands' green sea turtles."
