The Royal Playa del Carmen is an adult's only AI within walking distance to 5th Avenue, we have stay

My wife and I will be visiting PDC in December after a short stay in Isla Mujeres. It will be our first time and we're looking for hotel suggestions. ireland bus tours Prefer quiet and perhaps a little secluded without a bunch of kids. Would consider ireland bus tours an AI. Any suggestions? Language not a problem, we're fluent in Spanish.
We went to Playa in the summer. ireland bus tours It was just my husband and I and we like small quiet boutique resorts. We stayed at Mahekal and loved it. Their beachfront is nice and there weren't a lot of kids at the resort. They do have local people on the beach on towels a few hundred yards in front of the beach's palapas. The local people weren't loud or bothersome. Check out my trip report. I described our stay at Mahekal in it.
Another option in the area could be Las Palapas which is a similar style resort right door next to Mahekal. A popular downtown option is a small resort called Playa Maya but their beach is much smaller.
There are many boutique hotels on and around 5th Avenue in Playa. Some are not beachfront if that matters to you. We have stayed at Playa Palms, which is beach front and was very quite. However, there is no restaurant or bar on site, but it's a 5 minute walk to get to everything 5th Avenue has to offer.
The Royal Playa del Carmen is an adult's only AI within walking distance to 5th Avenue, we have stayed ireland bus tours there also. I wouldn't say it's quite though, but no kids. Across the street is their sister AI resort, the Gran Porto Real, which is family friendly.
You need to decide if you want to stay in the actual city, our further up the beach in a gated AI. In the city there are dozens ireland bus tours of small hotels in all price ranges. Some are right on the beach, some are nearby. We stayed at the Posada Mariposa a few years ago and enjoyed it very much. In general, the northern (newer) end of the city is a bit quieter. The exception would be Playacar at the southern end which is a gated community.
