So, I was having an alternator light coming on/off and went under the hood to inspect. The wife drives it as her daily driver while I commute in my little Honda and she informed me there was a power loss/lag. I figured it was about time to clean the EGR valve again. Behold, the lovely stain of coolant puking again!
So, long story short. I am getting new alternator, head gaskets (pressure checked everything and pulled the heads to find one was going bad causing the issue), is travel to thailand safe now engine flush, coolant flush etc. Funny part was the service manager called and said The tech just got back from a drive test, and man, your front end is wondering all over the place. Did you notice that? Why, yes I did but figured that I would be on the hook due to lift and 35 tires. He said nope, shot tie rod ends. Extended warranty is paying for that and a new alignment!
Now the bad. They will not install the ARP studs as they are not factory parts and it will void the third party warranty. They also won't cover the new EGR valve that they said is starting to go bad .

So, after two weeks at the shop, and a $270 contribution on my part, a $5000 bill was just absorbed by the warranty company. Head gaskets were just starting to fail and it was caught due to puking is travel to thailand safe now from the de-gas bottle. I got a new alternator, tie rods head gaskets and bolts and all the fun stuff that goes with it. Still had to pay for the oil filter, but all in all a good deal. It runs like a dream, just like new.

I just took it in with the complaint of the alternator (battery light) flickering and puking coolant. The found the bad tie rod ends and went to bat for me on getting them replaced. No problems or argument. I think that I have not balked at what the warranty people have said or given them a hard time has been a plus, but the dealership said this is the best aftermarket (third party) warranty company they have dealt with. Now they do spec some cleaners/solvents and small things is travel to thailand safe now for supplies that neither Ford nor the warranty company will pay for, but considering I only paid $270 out of pocket is travel to thailand safe now ($100 deductible, shop supplies they mandate is travel to thailand safe now and some type of valve/bypass thing in the EGR system (which is not the EGR valve)) I am very pleased. The only headache is that they must tear down each part and check it for pass/fail and can not assume a part is bad. Then they must get approval for further teardown and inspection/repair so what should have been a 3-4 day job took two weeks. Warranty did cover the rental car at the dealer for the entire time, but somehow a fire engine red Focus seemed to not be such a fair trade!
