This cabin has nice views of the mountain sides.but don,t recommend you to stay in this cabin for winter time use.if you have a 2 or 4 place trailer you will have a hard time getting to and from cabin,if it snows it will make it very hard to enter and exit.long turns up hills to climb and a steep drivway.would be very hard to turn a 4 place trailer hotels disney world around.even in the summer time you will need the 4 wheel drive to get to the cabin.
We found the cabin to be very nice. We had a blast staying there, but there were a few things that could have been improved. The driveway was ridiculously steep, and with the recent snow and ice there was no way we were taking our car down it. Salt was supposed to be left, but we found none. The heat wouldn't work on some cold nights even after working with the owner, the garage door guides were bent so it was very difficult to open and close it and the yard had not been taken care of. The write up is misleading in that there is no view of the lake and 1/2 mile walk to get there and there are only three bedrooms, not four. The house itself is very large. We would not go back.

We stayed at the lower (smaller) apartment during the Christmas week 2011. Location can't be beat. (Even with two young kids, we could walk to the lifts/ski school within minutes. Due to early season conditions, it wasn't a true ski in/out, but it should be with more snow.) The apartment itself is clean and cozy, if not super modern or fancy. Enough towels and bed linens for everyone, plenty of pots, pans, and dishes in the kitchen. The owner, Carol, is the nicest person you ever meet! The only small con I can think of is that the policy on reservations, cancellations, and deposits is pretty strict. (But security deposit was mailed back promptly, no complaints.) We had a group of 7 women that rented the upper condo and we loved it. It had everything that we needed and everywhere that we wanted to go was just a short walk. It was so convenient. The owners were wonderful and accomodating. It was a pleasure to stay there and we hope to return next year for our girls ski weekend.
You couldn't find a more convenient home to rent - steps from daycare, the lodge, the village, and lifts. Charming and cozy condo with the ultimate hospitality provided by the nicest owners. Who could ask for anything more?

What a fabulous place! It is rustic, but has everything you need, and the setting is so beautiful! We had a wonderful weekend of cooking, hotel roosevelt hiking and just relaxing in the peacefulness of the woods. It was still chilly when we went to Winona, hotel roosevelt but we will definitely be going back in the summer to enjoy the swimming holes nearby and explore some more hiking trails! Awesome!
This week, my husband and I experienced a burst pipe that destroyed much of our home, so we really wanted to "escape" the mess for the weekend. On Wednesday I found this cabin online, and by Friday we were driving up to Andover . It was EXACTLY hotel roosevelt what we hoped. Just a one room cabin, but surprisingly spacious! It certainly had everything we needed: A comfy couch, two rockers, bunk beds, a good-sized dining table, lots of food-prep hotel roosevelt counter space, and a big sink, which is great when you don't have running water and you need to wash dishes. Every amenity was included, from the coffee pot to the radio to the wine glasses and tin foil. You name it, it was in the cabin. We weren't sure what we'd find, so we packed some extra supplies of our own—but they weren't necessary. It was fully stocked with everything, including jugs of fresh water and extra bottles of stove fuel.
But enough about the nuts and bolts—it was the perfect weekend experience. The temps got down to 0F, but it was toasty warm in the cabin with the woodstove. During the day we strapped on our snowshoes and hiked a 5-mile loop of trails with our little dog, just down the hill from the cabin. In the afternoon we returned to our cozy cabin to listen to the radio and make supper while watching the glorious sunset over the expansive view of the mountains. At night the stars were brighter there than anywhere else.
The whole experience was right out of a storybook. I can't recommend it enough. The Stickneys are wonderful people and they truly care about your experience at "Winona." We will be back again this winter, hotel roosevelt and hopefully in the spring, summer, and fall as well. It's a hidden, private gem that will give you everything you need to reconnect…without connecting to "the grid!"
It is so rewarding to share our little paradise with such nice folks! Julia and Dan were so nice and enjoyed our mountains so much... Camp Winona, named for our (too young) friend and neighbor who died two years ago from breast cancer, has been an inspiration to many people already. What a sweetheart of a guy this guest was! I am meeting so many great people renting out our little cabin. Bill was especially nice; we hit it off right away and hated to see him go (without saying goodbye, you softie, Bill!) I think the people who seek serenity and seclusion in their time away from home are a certain breed... and we all seem to be on the same page about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I am so glad that we are able to share our little piece of heaven with so many wonderful folks.

My friend and I had the best time. This cabin was clean and decorated really nice. We fished all day and it is so peaceful and quiet. I would plan on returning to this place any time I need to get away. The owners are kind and respectful of your privacy.
We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. It was down to earth, warm and inviting advantage rent car with quilts and candles and an old fashion wood burning stove that kept the cabin warm. I loved the atmosphere. It had a gorgeous view of a beautiful, spring fed pond. It was an enjoyable and memorable trip for our my mom's 80th birthday. Children advantage rent car would really love it because of the fishing, canoeing, etc that was available to guests. The location was also great. We went from the mountains to the Atlantic, from Portland to Ogunquit in short day trips. Lastly, and I could go on for a while, the owners were so kind and helpful. We enjoyed seeing them and even their dog who visited us every day. Everything was truly wonderful and I hope that I can return to this rental again.

We Just got back from Barker's Pond. We had an amazing time. This was our 6th trip to Maine, but our first trip to this area. Lots of canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, and napping. This cabin was in a great location, everything from shopping to the ocean was just a short drive away yet you felt miles away in the mountains! The deck overlooking the pond was a great place to have you coffee in the morning and just take in the quiet. Best of all we were able to bring Trooper, our bullmastiff, and he had a great time as well!
The host provided a great place to stay. They went the xtra mile to provide everything we needed. There's plenty to do around the area or you can simply veg around the cabin and lake. Going back next year.
I stayed for part of one week with friends and enjoyed the vacation very much. we BBQed outside each night and enjoyed using the small fire pit for a mini 'campfire' at night. the cabin was rustic but was equipped with linens, pillows, lots of kitchen items, towels, and homey touches. the neighbor advantage rent car pets were especially entertaining. a great getaway!

My family and I spent our fall break there. Being from Georgia, we were warned by the owners that it would be cold. It was. In fact, it snowed. The owners have a beautiful camp and it has a homey feeling... great central location... lake is beautiful... the railroad tracks add so much to the space because you can explore area around the lake... the beds in the cabin were perfect- we love a kind and the two sets of bunks gave both our children the opportunity to sleep on top...very well stocked... we want to go back in summer to enjoy the lake more!
This is an excellent cabin to rent for a vacation. Set up more like a home with all the conveniences, it is very clean and comfortable. The lake is beautiful clean water. The area residents are very nice and the railroad tracks make for nice walks to veiw the area. Our family had a wonderful time here and hope to return next year.

As much as there is to do in Kennebunkport and the area, the beauty of your home, as a whole, and your amazing kitchen with the cove view, provide a wonderful ongoing show - a show which allows the calm to roll in and the tension let go.
We just recently stayed at 82 Ocean for a family vacation and had the time of our lives!! The house is absolutely international student travel beautiful - and Kennebunkport is breathtaking! Acton is a nice little Maine town that is close to many places... about an hour's drive to the ocean

This is a sweet little house that is 150 feet from the lake, and a real deal!!! This house has a living room with cable TV, dinning area, full kitchen, two bedrooms on the first floor and a loft that with twin beds that sleeps three (more if you want to bring your sleeping bags and air mattress). A good size bathroom with a large shower stall, and heat in case there is a cool evening. A nice deck gives you an over view of the lake, and a pretty front yard area for cooking on the gas grill and eating at the picnic table. The lake is a short walk to your own dock, where you can tie up your boat, swim or fish from. There are no neighbors to either side of this property and the dead end road is very quiet. Great place for kids to ride bikes, take long walks, or simply enjoy the quiet.
Acton is a nice little Maine town that is close to many places... about an hour's drive to the ocean, Freeport (LL Beans) Portland (see a Sea Dog's game) or travel inland to the White Mountains of NH (famous Mt. This cozy, well-kept and well-equipped cottage is perfectly set not too close and not too far from town (interesting surfboard travel bags people, surfboard travel bags interesting sights) and small bay inlets (interesting sights, no people). It sits at the end of a small street, backing into an enormous woods---an added plus not mentioned in the material. The area may be its greatest advantage. There is so much beauty and so much too explored that, like one earlier reviewer, I hesitate to share this secret with the world.

Didn't have to bring a thing, good grocery store in town, lobster fresh off the boats, a 2 week long art festival going on at the Town Center with a different featured event each evening. But most enjoyable for me was the opportunity for nature---biking, hiking, took the local Ferry to Bar Harbor for the afternoon and saw seals, dolphin, Osprey with young in the nest. You could go out and meet and mingle with nice people from all over or sit on the porch and read a book. To be honest, I want to keep this place a secret!

The home and views are incredible. However, buy used rental cars the owners shouldn't be renting their property. They are very strict , we arrived during "Irene". The property owner was complaining how the previous occupants were slobs. He spent the beginning of our stay mowing the lawn and running around the property during the storm. We left the home cleaner than we arrived except for 2 red wine spots on the white slip covers on the sofa's and were subject to a replacement buy used rental cars fee. When they said we could dispute this and we did, they never responded back and kept $30.00 from a $1500 security deposit. "All in all" we had a wonderful vacation despite the property owners and their frugal hospitality.

we reserved this house for a family trip. It was advertised as the finest house on Peaks Island , yet it was a duplex with tenants living below our house. In the rear of the unit was a "yurt" buy used rental cars that the owner also either rented out or used for his own purposes. It was like staying in a compound. The owner is very strange and demanded buy used rental cars access to our unit on more than one occasion.
