One word Amazing! We are absolutely in love with this place. Everything about Winona as well as the property and its owners is completely hotel roosevelt wonderful. If your looking for a place to get away from the world and everyday life this is it. The camp is very well kept and the owners are very accommodating if there's anything you need.Only warning to the first timers, you are not going to want to leave!. I only wish I would have found her sooner. I am sure my family hotel roosevelt and I will have many memories this fall and winter at Winona! Thanks hotel roosevelt again to the very kind owners hotel roosevelt for sharing there little peace of heaven as well as their hospitality and the accommodations that they provide there guests!
We were absolutely amazed when we went in to clean up the cabin and it looked better than when we had left it! What absolutely respectful guests! So glad we were able to share our little mountain top with another party that really appreciates the Maine woods. LIVE SIMPLY!
What a fabulous place! It is rustic, but has everything you need, and the setting is so beautiful! We had a wonderful weekend of cooking, hotel roosevelt hiking and just relaxing in the peacefulness of the woods. It was still chilly when we went to Winona, hotel roosevelt but we will definitely be going back in the summer to enjoy the swimming holes nearby and explore some more hiking trails! Awesome!
This week, my husband and I experienced a burst pipe that destroyed much of our home, so we really wanted to "escape" the mess for the weekend. On Wednesday I found this cabin online, and by Friday we were driving up to Andover . It was EXACTLY hotel roosevelt what we hoped. Just a one room cabin, but surprisingly spacious! It certainly had everything we needed: A comfy couch, two rockers, bunk beds, a good-sized dining table, lots of food-prep hotel roosevelt counter space, and a big sink, which is great when you don't have running water and you need to wash dishes. Every amenity was included, from the coffee pot to the radio to the wine glasses and tin foil. You name it, it was in the cabin. We weren't sure what we'd find, so we packed some extra supplies of our own—but they weren't necessary. It was fully stocked with everything, including jugs of fresh water and extra bottles of stove fuel.
But enough about the nuts and bolts—it was the perfect weekend experience. The temps got down to 0F, but it was toasty warm in the cabin with the woodstove. I even cooked hotel roosevelt cornbread and pancakes on top of it! We ate like royalty, and slept like babies. hotel roosevelt We read our books by oil lamp light and watched the fire embers glow. And when we had to obey the "call of nature," the super-modern, uber-clean outhouse was just steps away. Nicer than my bathroom hotel roosevelt at home!
During the day we strapped on our snowshoes and hiked a 5-mile loop of trails with our little dog, just down the hill from the cabin. In the afternoon we returned to our cozy cabin to listen to the radio and make supper while watching the glorious sunset over the expansive view of the mountains. At night the stars were brighter there than anywhere else.
The whole experience was right out of a storybook. I can't recommend it enough. The Stickneys are wonderful people and they truly care about your experience at "Winona." We will be back again this winter, hotel roosevelt and hopefully in the spring, summer, and fall as well. It's a hidden, private gem that will give you everything you need to reconnect…without connecting to "the grid!"
It is so rewarding to share our little paradise with such nice folks! Julia and Dan were so nice and enjoyed our mountains so much... Camp Winona, named for our (too young) friend and neighbor who died two years ago from breast cancer, has been an inspiration to many people already. Thank you Winnie, your spirit is alive and well on our mountain!
Have you reached a junction of your life in where all the modern amenities have just overwhelmed you to a degree, and want to depend on yourself, rather than all that makes living day to day an easy ride ? Do you want to re-center yourself through a sabbatical of sorts, yet still be taken care of by two of the sweetest folks on Earth.
I spent ten days in this cabin just recently hotel roosevelt and was asked, "Why Now?" and my answer was "Why Not" God is all over and when you are alone looking at the Heavens up in this Cabin, you connect hotel roosevelt with him so much easier, as this is like no cabin on Earth.
The Cabin that was built through Love will stay in your heart for the rest of your days. It will teach your children that sitting on the porch or the front of a warm " Franklin Stove" is so much more fulfilling than a video game and to be honest, I would leave them at home, as your stay here is a journey of healing and what a great journey it was.
What a sweetheart of a guy this guest was! I am meeting so many great people renting out our little cabin. Bill was especially nice; we hit it off right away and hated to see him go (without saying goodbye, you softie, Bill!) I think the people who seek serenity and seclusion in their time away from home are a certain breed... and we all seem to be on the same page about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I am so glad that we are able to share our little piece of heaven with so many wonderful folks.
What a fantastic place! Scenery is the best anywhere with awesome mountain views. hotel roosevelt One of a kind-you won't find a nicer mountain cabin than this. Great place for moose watchers too as we saw one right outside the front door. Best secluded cabin there is. Can't even see a house in site. Highly recommended. Owners are also very accommodating.
