Ewald says working in a green hotel means a lot to employees and helps motivate them daily. Of cours

Earlier this week I had an opportunity to attend the official opening of the TownePlace Suites Denver Airport at Gateway new jersey exotic car rentals Park. It was the second Marriott opening I attended in the last two weeks ( see article for other opening). Unique about the TownePlace Suites Denver Airport new jersey exotic car rentals is that it is the first hotel in the brand to open as part of Marriott s LEED Volume Program. According to Jefferson Thomas, senior design manager, Architecture Construction for Marriott, the program saves owners interested in pursuing LEED about $100,000 in upfront costs and six months of construction time. The upside for owners is that Marriott will walk them through the LEED process a process that can be intimidating even to experienced developers. Having a LEED Volume Program certainly provides Marriott with a competitive advantage. Thomas told me it took Marriott two years to develop the program and gain approval from the U.S. Green Building Council.
The response has been very good so far, Thomas says. Word on the street is that LEED can be complicated and expensive. For the owners of the TownePlace Suites Denver Airport, the LEED Volume Program and selecting a LEED prototype new jersey exotic car rentals meant building their hotel in just eight months new jersey exotic car rentals and two weeks. Karl Ewald, president and CEO of Arapahoe Lodging and co-owner of the new hotel, said once the LEED plaque has been received, it will make it easier to attract both government and corporate business.
Perhaps more than any other company in the industry, Marriott is committed new jersey exotic car rentals to LEED. It has five brands that are LEED Volume certified: Courtyard, Fairfield Inn, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites and TownePlace Suites. It has about 90 LEED certified or registered hotel projects. Other LEED Volume projects are in the pipeline, including a Residence Inn in Austin, Texas, which is slated to open in early 2013.
During my visit to the hotel, I had an opportunity to see what is unique about the hotel from a green design and operations perspective. Some of the features are mentioned in a press release that was run about the hotel. What struck me was the amount of daylight in public areas. This helps to reduce the need for artificial lighting and as a result the hotel s overall carbon footprint. LED and compact fluorescent lighting is used throughout the property. The pool uses salt water to reduce the need for chlorine. Water fixtures are low-flow. There is a shower facility for employees who ride their bicycles to work. There are five parking spaces close to the hotel s entrance for low emission vehicles. Ninety percent of construction waste was recycled. Some of it was ground up and used as fill. The windows are high performance new jersey exotic car rentals and reflect heat. The roof material is highly reflective. By November the hotel will have an optional towel replacement program.
Ewald says working in a green hotel means a lot to employees new jersey exotic car rentals and helps motivate them daily. Of course new jersey exotic car rentals working in a brand spanking new hotel helps as well. To learn more about the TownePlace Suites Denver Airport at Gateway Park, click here .
