Throughout California, both large and small light rail companies are moving to electrify their lines

For years, residents around Taylor Yards—Metrolink's home on the east bank of the Los Angeles River—have raised issues rent a car uk surrounding the noise and air pollution caused rent a car uk by trains in their backyard by launching petitions, rent a car uk convening community meetings and urging change. Over the past several months, I have met with representatives from Metrolink and community members to discuss ways to improve and update operations at the station.
In a meeting last month with the Metrolink Board Chairman and Chief Operating rent a car uk Officer, I raised a number rent a car uk of these concerns about noise and air pollution associated rent a car uk with the presence of Taylor Yards. I believe rent a car uk that it was a very productive meeting, and I want to share with you what I have committed to working on with them in the future.
First, I will continue to work with Metrolink to expand the use of electrical outlets for trains to use during cleaning and maintenance. While the exact number of train positions without access to electrical outlets is not known, their increased use would alleviate the need to run secondary train engines, and hopefully reduce much of the air pollution.
Second, I will be working with Metrolink rent a car uk and other agencies to bring about a public health assessment to determine the exact impacts of the presence of Taylor Yards on the health and well-being of residents throughout the Elysian Valley and surrounding communities. I believe it is in everyone's best interest for such a study to be conducted impartially and objectively.
Third, I have agreed to work with Metrolink and the Air Quality rent a car uk Management District to identify possible funding rent a car uk sources for the use of emissions control systems at Taylor Yards and in the long term, move Metrolink toward employing a full complement of trains with cleaner, rent a car uk more efficient locomotive technologies.
Finally, I will urge Metrolink to allow increased oversight into their operation by setting up a working group with local stakeholders. This will address many of the community's concerns, and will allow the monitoring of commitments from Metrolink that come from this process. Whatever form this oversight body takes, it is clear that it must be a broad-based entity made up of all of the key stakeholders and community leaders.
Throughout California, both large and small light rail companies are moving to electrify their lines, and it's the right step for Metrolink to take, as well. I look forward to working with the community to address concerns, and appreciate rent a car uk Metrolink s willingness to work with us in addressing many of the issues that have been raised.
