I believe in Bang for the Buck, and the council retreating, spending our tax dollars outside of our

Previous to the swearing in of the newly elected, Grady Smithey took the high road 3 minutes into the meeting to congratulate his opponent in his victory and said he looked forward to working with his new representation.
It was brought to Mrs. Thomas attention that the Inn On The River in Glen Rose ( Click Here To View Their Web-Site ) was not sufficient to their taste. Thomas had issue that it was a small house, it had small beds, the rooms did not have a television and you may have to walk upstairs to get to your room. She wanted to reconsider where they would hold the retreat.
Johnette Jameson put her two cents fourth and explained that the Inn was more of a tea room and pointed out that it was originally used as a sanitarium. Jameson stated that on previous southwest airlines fun fares retreats that she has been on, while on city council, they stayed at a hunting lodge where the rooms were bigger southwest airlines fun fares and more manly, they had televisions, the food was bigger and at 28:21 in the video she stated everything is bigger.
Jameson went on to describe that while staying at that lodge, she was startled by a moose wailing. No really, she did, it s at 29:21 on the video. It may have been a pack of meese, you know plural for moose.  Point of information, the plural word for moose is moose. As in, Are all of these chocolate moose, or are some vanilla? Okay that s supposed to be mousse but I digress .
Not once during the meeting was it discussed southwest airlines fun fares if this retreat serves a public purpose. Yes they will be discussing the budget southwest airlines fun fares and other council planning, but does it need to happen in Glen Rose or a hunting lodge? Isn t this part of the job as an elected council person?
This retreat could easily cost up over $5,000 dollars. Especially during a time when our property tax values have gone down and we are about to be faced with an employee health insurance southwest airlines fun fares increase that hasn t been discussed yet? To top it off, this retreat was not in the budget for this year.
Why do we have the Hilton Garden Inn? Can the council not use their facilities? That way we are not paying for them to talk to a moose or watch television whilst enjoying a tasty cracker? How will our elected make it to Glen Rose or the lodge? southwest airlines fun fares Will we have to pay mileage on top of their other expenses?
If you watch the end of the meeting, the council is discussing the The Great American Shoot Out, the 3 day basketball tournament held at the Duncanville Field House. Newly elected Mayor Hodge asked Mike Kunstadt, southwest airlines fun fares promoter of said event, southwest airlines fun fares How do we guarantee that the players and fans are spending their money in Duncanville stores and restaurants? She suggested, Duncanville Dollars as a coupon for guests to our city to encourage them to spend their money in Duncanville.
I have been thinking about the whole election/city hall thing, trying to understand why the voters in Duncanville have made such profoundly poor decisions in the last two election cycles just here by myself pondering.
The Council that included Green and Smithey made the decisions for no retreat due to the economic downturn and didn t feel those tax dollars would be best spent in that manner. We are very close to our general fund being debt free, but we are facing a tough budget year and look how we are already spending un-budgeted money this year.
Hodge s statements during the discussion about the Great American Shoot Out Basketball tournament were that she wanted to see their business plan or profit statement so the Council can know where the tournament money is going so Duncanville can get the Bang for the Buck.
I believe southwest airlines fun fares in Bang for the Buck, and the council retreating, spending our tax dollars outside of our city is NOT bang for the Duncanville buck. (approx .73 for each $1 spent local goes back to build our tax base)
I understand retreats are common practice for city council, but I m not okay with that, it s excessive. Budget could actually be worked out in space at the library for next to nothing. They all already know each other so some team building Kumbayah is certainly not necessary. They ve done that plenty of times at the SUBurban/Crescent squat.
Another point of hypocrisy to see all the positive discussion from the council and the gallery (Judy Richards) saying how well the Fieldhouse is doing and what a positive asset it has become for our City well yes, agreed, but this is exactly the vision of why the tough decisions were made a couple years back to take on the responsibility the Fieldhouse. And who, who do you think laid that foundation?
The reason for a retreat is to get away from everybody that might attend as interested citizens make it inconvenient. They don t need the intimidation that would be felt by actually being watched by folks with cameras and notepads. Most of them are not used to that but better get that way cause it s gonna happen. Plus I understand that there is a pool table on site!!!!!
I find it totally unacceptable that the first decision southwest airlines fun fares our new council makes is to take our tax money and leave town with it. BUY DUNCANVILLE should be a high priority and if our leaders don t set the example, who then? I agree with an earlier comment about a retreat ; that it is part of the job where planning and goal setting for the coming year take place. Television southwest airlines fun fares is something you watch in your leisure at home!
